Venice

Day 9 November 16, 2011 Venice
Imagine the opening scene from the Italian Job, where they steal all of the gold and there's a boat chase down the canals of Venice... or picture the awesome shots in the movie The Tourist (awful), and the beautiful scenery... We were there!!!

Venice was fantastic! It wasn't crowded, pretty clean and so much to see! Enjoy this lengthy post

The fancy gondola's that the locals give rides in. No we didn't ride in one, but we watched others throw away $300-$500 just like that!

It was a sunny and calm day, so Dreamy!

"dreamboat"?

Awww...the life on a Wednesday afternoon

Of course he had to do something cool

This building is sinking! The front landing area is already a foot under water

I showed off my rain boots and splashed around in the water

"Italian Job" boat!

We had to stop into the Disney store, found Cinderella painted on the brick wall, do I look like her?

Fresh apple from the market, yum-o!

Even if we didn't have food the pigeons would still land on you. We did throw our apple core on the ground and they picked it apart! The pigeons were our entertainment for a good hour, picking at the apple core, trying to dodge Jamey's foot, and gobbling up the rest of my Nutella crepe.

Outside San Marco's square by the main canal, we ate lunch at a little cafe' while basking in the sun and overlooking the water.

"Gondola Service" , a huge income for the city

An old prison is the white building on the right, and we were told that the prisoners would walk out on that bridge up high, and say goodbye to their loved ones before being locked up.

The Duomo in Venice

We loved how the stairs would go directly into the water, saddle up!

In San Marco's square, these are all of the offices of the city officials

Loving on our new camera, Canon EOS Rebel!

It was a little chilly in the city walking around because the sun is blocked by all of the buildings

Such a cute little stationary shop, filled with all sorts of overpriced cute ideas

Ciao Bella!

A scene from a movie right... we were in love!

Just for fun...6 feet wide

Such a handsome man and a handsome bridge!

That night we went to a little theater and watched a play/show/production on the history of Venice. It was all in English, the acting was rough, but it was very informative and we fell in love with Venice even more!

After the show we took the public bus boat and cruised down the main canal, it's so pretty at night!
