Florence and Siena

Day 4 November 11, 2011
Today we woke up in Florence and headed for the hills to see some real life vineyards. It was so dreamy we were dying!!

Yes please!!

We had to get a picture of our sweet rental car.

We found this church that sits up on this hill and overlooks the whole city.

Alright, I think that The Sound of Music is either my favorite movie or #2 but when I saw this little graveyard I was freaking out cause it is EXACTLY like the one in that movie right at the end when the Von Trapp Family is hiding.

The whole city of Florence behind us.

Obsessed with this door color.

Inside the church.

The Duomo

Real gold doors on the baptistry.

Inside this Duomo it was really plain compared to the other church's we went into.

The dome was intense.

THE DAVID!!! One of the most amazing statues I have ever seen in my life!

This was sculpted by Michelangelo... Oh my gosh this man was a complete genius. Every vein and detail on his body is PERFECT and it's just huge!

The shopping was great in Florence, it was hard to get away from all of it.

We left Florence and headed a little further south to Siena, the HEART of TUSCANY!! We found this hotel to stay in for the night then headed to the main square for dinner and sightseeing.

We had dinner looking right into the main square. We had a heating lamp on us that's why we are so red.

Every table we ever sat at had this in their own rendition.

This city is AMAZING!! One of our favorites for sure. They have this huge main square and no cars are allowed in the city. The black plague took out 1/3 of Siena's population when it hit so it left the city in ruins for a while. It has stayed the same ever since, it never grew much bigger and everything is the exact way it was from the dark ages. It really has so much character and is BEAUTIFUL!

This is Jamey's favorite pick, he had to get at least one of these a day to start out then he could branch out after that.
