Cinque Terre & Pisa

Day 2 November 9, 2011 Cinque Terre & Pisa

Today we had planned to hike along the northwest coast of Italy in the Cinque Terre region (which translates to 5 worlds). There are 5 little villages nestled up along huge cliffs, and we had planned to hike from village to village...but there was a huge mudslide a week before we arrived that wiped out most of the trail and parts of the villages. Pretty sad actually, it killed a lot of people...so we took the train from village to village and still got to enjoy most of it!

The 2nd village we visited is called Corniglia

We then backtracked and visited a 3rd village called Manarola, our first Gelato for the day

The entrance to hike up to the top of the tower, we decided to save the cash and gaze at it from the bottom, just as cool!

As we were leaving, Jamey decided a third gelato would treat him right! And from that day, he put down at least 2 to 3 a day...

We arrived in the city of Lucca that night, my next post will include more pictures of this beautiful place, we loved it there.

We were reminded that dipping bread in olive oil and balsamic vinegar is an American thing...Italians put the oil and vinegar on their pizza pies and salads.
